Entered Army Medical Staff, September 1875. Served in Afghan War, 1879-1880. Present at affair at Zaidabad.
Accompanied force under Lord Roberts to relief of Kandahar. Present at Battle of Kandahar (despatches, medal and clasp, bronze star). Joined Grenadier Guards, 1881.
Soudan Campaign, 1885. Battle of Hasheen and destruction of Temai (medal with clasp and Khedive’s star). Accompanied Sir Mortimer Durand on his mission to Cabul, 1893 (thanked by Government of India).
Served on Lord Lansdowne’s Staff in India, 1888-1894. Served on Lord Curzon’s Staff in India, 1898-1903 (Durbar medal). Decorated for services on Durand Mission. Royal Army Medical Corps; retired 1907.
