Evelyn Benson was born on March 18, 1924, in Plymouth, Pennsylvania, United States, into the family of Louis A. and Bessie (Osheroff) Rose.
Finally, she earned Master in Public Health cum laude at Harvard University in 1955.
Evelyn Benson received Diploma in nursing at Jewish Hospital School Nursing in 1946.
Then she got Bachelor of science in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania in 1949.

Evelyn Benson worked in the Visiting Nurse Society of Philadelphia as a public health nurse. She also took that position at the World Health Organization. She continued her medical career as a nurse at Philadelphia School District in Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania, and took the position of senior public health nurse consultant to Institute for the Study of Venereal Diseases.
Evelyn continued working at Ohio Department of Public Health as a supervising nurse, at Community Nursing Service in Chester during 1967 - 1969, at Widener University, Chester, in 1970 - 1977, Temple University, Philadelphia, during 1977 - 1978, and as a writer, and consultant in 1978 - 1980.
Benson was a director of program development in during 1983 - 1985, and also served at LaSalle University, Philadelphia, and School of Nursing. She finally retired in 1994. She is a contributor to periodicals, including Journal of Gerontological Nursing, International Nursing Review,Nursing Outlook, Public Health Nursing, and Pennsylvania Nurse.
On July 3, 1955 Evelyn married Morton Benson, with whom she has two daughters, Rebecca and Miriam.
