Evelyne Accad is a Lebanese-born American professor and writer, who has her own unique style. She worked at the positions of a teacher and professor of French at different educational institutions.

Evelyne Accad was born on October 10, 1943 in Beirut, Lebanon. She is the daughter of Fouad and Suzanne (Steudler) Accad.
Education
Accad attended Beirut College for Women, receiving Associate of Arts degree from it in 1965. She was also educated at Anderson College, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree two years later. She also became Master of Arts at Ball State University in 1968. Finally, Accad acquired Doctor of Philosophy degree at Indiana University five more years later.
Career
Accad's career began in 1967, when she was appointed to the position of an instructor in French at Anderson University; she held that position only for a year.
From 1968 till 1970 she worked at the International College as a teacher of French and English language, grammar, and literature, and girls’ counselor. Four years later Accad moved to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as an assistant professor, she held that post for 5 years. She was an associate professor for almost ten years from 1979.
Accad worked as a professor of French comparative literature and member of core faculty at African Center, Women’s Studies Center, and Center for Asian Studies, all from 1988. At Northwestern University she served as a visiting professor in 1991.
Accad was a lecturer at colleges and universities, including Lebanese American University, University of Toledo, University of Colorado, American University in Beirut, Dartmouth College, Duke University, and University of South Alabama. She served at the Service of Continuing Education in International Affairs as a world affairs speaker. She also gives readings from her works.
In addition, Accad was a contributor of more than a hundred articles and reviews to periodicals, including World Literature Today, College Literature, Feminist Issues, International Journal of Nonviolence, Ms: World of Women, and Research in African Literatures, as well as a guest editor and member of editorial board of Al-Raida, guest editor of Cahier du Grif, member of editorial board at Folio and Journal of Maghrebi Studies.
