Filippo was a court performer of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Cosimo III of the Medici. In 1698 Duke Peter Alekseevich Golitsyn hired Balatri for the Russian service. He lived in Russia in 1698-1701 and went to Voronezh with Peter I in 1699-1700.
In May 1700, as part of the embassy of B.A. Golitsyn Filippo Balatri sailed from Voronezh to the Kalmyk Khan Ayuka. He did not return to Russia any more.
Filippo traveled and sang for different people in France, England, Germany and Italy. In 1724 he performed on the opera stage for the first time in Munich.
In 1739 Filippo took monastic vows.
