Wright, Francis Marion was born on August 5, 1844 in Brier Ridge Farm, Adams Company, Ohio, United States. Son of James and Elizabeth (Copple) Wright.

Education

Ohio Valley Academy, Decatur, O. Bachelor of Laws, Cincinnati Law College, 1867.

Career

Enlisted private Company I, 39th Ohio Volumes, June 1861. Mustered out as Second lieutenant, same regiment, July 9, 1865. Admitted to bar in Cincinnati, 1867.

Practiced law in Georgetown, Brown Company, O., until December 1868, Urbana, Illinois, until 1891. Judge 4th Judicial Circuit of Illinois, 1891-1897. Judge of Appellate Court of Illinois, 1897-1903.

Judge The United States of America Court of Claims, Washington, 1903-1905. United States district judge, Eastern District, Illinois, March 17, since 1905.
