Frank was a member of the Boston firm of Longfellow, Alden & Harlow, organized in 1885, in 1892, he joined Mr. Harlow in opening an office in Pittsburgh under the name of Alden & Harlow. Their first important commission was the original Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh (won in a competition) and in subsequent years the firm designed all of the branch Library Buildings in the city. Also they were architects of the commercial National and the Second National Bank Buildings in Pittsburgh, the Public Library at Duquesne, Pa., and the Lutheran Memorial Church at Erie, Pa.
