Scott, Frank Jesup was born on February 7, 1828 in Columbia, S. C. Son of Jesup Wakeman and Susan (Wakeman) Scott.

Educated in Maumee, O., schools, and by father.

Career

Practiced landscape gardening and architecture, 1852-1853. Studied and traveled in Europe, 1854-1855. Extensive traveler in America (North and South), Hawaiian Islands, Europe, Africa.

Works

  • Author: The Art of Beautifying Home Grounds, 1870 A2. The Ornamental Trees, Shrubs and Plants of the United States, 1870 A2. Portraitures of Julius Caesar, 1903 L4.

    Also various pamphlets on economics and political topics. Spent five years, 1896-1901, in studies in Europe and Africa for his book on Julius Caesar, and in November, 1904, presented collection of heads of Julius Caesar to Harvard University.
