Fred Padula earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Master of Arts in Art (1965) from San Francisco State University.
Fred Padula taught photography and film-making at San Francisco State University (1963-1979) and at the University of California, San Francisco (1966-1971). He was also a visiting artist at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, in 1970, and has worked since college as a freelance filmmaker, carrying out projects for PBS, NET, NBC, KQED-TV, Pepsi-Cola, Lee Mendelson Films, Wolper Productions, and Sesame Street.
His latest work, El Capitan (1978), was funded by an American Film Institute grant and won the grand prize at the Trento International Film Festival in Italy (1978).
