Background

Listemann, Fritz was born on March 25, 1839 in Schlotheim, Thüringen, Germany. Son of Johann F. W. and Marie H. (Kühn) Listemann.

Education

Graduate Leipzig Conservatory of Music, also private lessons from Ferdinand David and Wilhelm Ulrich.

Career

1876. At early age member leading orchestras in Europe. Came to New York, 1868. Became member Theodore Thomas Orchestra, and of Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Also member Bernhard Listemann Concert Company. Studied composition with Edward Alexander McDowell for several years Composer: Violin concerts, songs and various smaller pieces. Home: Jamaica Plain, Boston.
