Engineer. Specialized in study of mechanics. Born in Ibaraki Prefecture. Graduated from Tohoku University (1922). Appointed assistant professor of the university (1925) and professor (1934). Appointed director of the High Speed Dynamics Research Institute of the university (1943). Received prize from the Japan Academy (1950) for research on wing stress, and the Ministry of Education Prize for various researches on wing tunnel phenomena, and research on high speed axle pump and on rotor blade of the vortex pump. Books: "Theory of Propeller Water Wheel and Propeller Pump" and "Capacity of Wing Type Cavitation."
