This work discusses the significance of forecasting, and goes on to examine a number of techniques and the pitfalls associated with them. Forecasting is not the same as planning, the author emphasizes, and planning is not the same as action, but each facilitates the other.

Dame Laura Knight (1877-1970) was one of Britain's most popular artists during the first half of the 20th century. Although she is known chiefly for her technically accomplished paintings of circus and ballet scenes, this book considers the full range of her graphic work - the drawings, linocuts, lithographs and etchings. In Part 1 there are full page illustrations of many of Laura Knight's finest prints and drawings with appropriate quotations from the artist's writings. The organization of this section by subject category and the artist's and the author's comments reveals the imaginative sources of the work. Part 2 discusses Laura Knight's woodcuts and lithographs, many of which have rarely been seen. Part 3 is a comprehensive catalogue raisonnee of the artist's 80 published prints with all available information clearly set out: titles, medium, dimensions, states, whether published, edition size, cancellation details and provenance. The book concludes with a print-related biography and with several reference lists including "Original Prices" and "Prints listed in The Studio". The book is multi-indexed for ease of reference.
