Gaston Bart-Williams wrote for the British Broadcasting Corp. (BBC), Canadian Broadcasting Corp. (CBC), and for radio stations in Sweden, Norway, and Germany. Since 1959 he was a Sierra Leone representative for World Assembly of Youth, Mali Republic. In 1965 he participated in Commonwealth Theatre Conference and Commonwealth Poets’ Conference, London, England. Mr. Bart-Williams created films on relations between Africa and Europe, including European artists close to certain aspects of African cultures (Susanne Wenger, Michael Buthe, Wolf Vostell, Volker A. Hamann). He was an author of numerous books.
Gaston Bart-Williams was killed on August 28, 1990, in a boat accident off the coast of West Africa.
