George Washington Lindsay was a United States Representative from New York.


Lindsay, George Washington was born on March 28, 1865 in Brooklyn, New York, United States. Son of George Henry and Mary (Beattie) Lindsay.


He attended the public schools.


Was engaged in the real estate business.

He was a member of the Democratic State committee and served as leader of the assembly district, was appointed as a confidential investigator in the State insurance department; he was elected to the New York State Assembly in the latter year. He declined to be a candidate for renomination, and was deputy tenement-house commissioner for Brooklyn and Queens County.

Lindsay was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-eighth and to the five succeeding Congresses, holding office. He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1934 and resumed the real estate business.
