Hunter, George King was born on April 6, 1855 in Lancaster, Ohio, United States. Son of Henry B. and Josephine L. (King) Hunter.

Education

Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1877.

Career

Commissioned additional Second lieutenant, 4th Cavalry, June 15, 1877. Promoted through grades to brigadier general N.A., August 5, 1917. Participated in numerous Indian campaigns.

Wounded at Battle of San Juan Hill, Cuba, July 1, 1898. Actively engaged in subduing Philippine Insurrection, 1899-1903. Assigned to duty Camp Funston, Kansas, 1917.

Retired, February 1, 1918. Commanded Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, February 22, 1918-July 28, 1919.
