Son of Reverend William hurch Stacpoole, Doctor of Divinity of Kingstown, Company Dublin. Married Margaret, d. of William Robson ol Tynemouth. Educated: Malvern College.
After leaving school studied medicine at St. George’s and St. Mary’s Hospitals. Practised for sometimea s a doctor. First drawn towards literature by tlio works of Carlyle and the German metaphysicians and poets.
Then became acquainted with the works of the French school of writers. Has travelled much and far, assisting in several deep-sea expeditions. Published monograph on The Floor of the Sea, in World’s Work, 1903.
First successful with Fanny Lambert, a social comedy. Publuations: Social Comedy: The Bourgeois. Fanny Lambert; The Doctor.
