Gelovani Georgy Mikhailovich was born on 20th of June,1923 in Batumi city of Georgian SSR of Transcaucasian Federation (now Batumi, Georgia).

Career

Georgy Mikhailovich worked in the theaters of Tbilisi, Chisinau, Kuibyshev, Tashkent, Tomsk. The main director of the Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theater (1977-1983). Since 1983, the head of the opera company of the Moscow Bolshoi Theater.

The main productions: "Porgy and Bess" George Gershwin, "Don Carlos" Giuseppe Verdi, "Iolanta" Peter Tchaikovsky, "First Love" Otar Taktakishvili, "Barber of Seville" Gioacchino Rossini, "Faust" Charles Gounod and others.

Achievements

• Gelovani Mikhailovich Georgy Honored art worker of the Moldavian SSR (1960).
