Gordon H. Burt was born in 1893 in New Zealand.
Burt flourished in Wellington, New Zealand, from 1924 to 1965. During those years, Burt worked as a commercial photographer in Wellington, dealing mainly with such things as posters and theater slides. He invented and developed a color photographic process that entailed a dye transfer process involving three-color separation negatives which combined to form a single color negative. That was then used to make a color print, which he called "Tru colour."
