Career
She was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts and attended Wellesley College, where she was an instructor and undergraduate student simultaneously, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she earned her Bachelor of Surgery in physics in 1900. From 1894-1905, she taught physics at Wellesley. Upon her departure, she began research at Barnard College, where she also taught.
