He then pursued his studies at the Berlin University of the Arts graduating in 2002. Due to a scholarship that Hildebrandt obtained the following year, he had an opportunity to develop his artistic skills at the German Study Centre in Venice.
From 2005 to 2006, Gregor Hildebrandt studied in Vienna, Austria, due to another scholarship, this time from the German Academic Exchange Service.
Gregor Hildebrandt emerged to the art scene in the early 2000s. Since then, he has taken part in many solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally, including European countries, the United States, and Asia. Hildebrandt has also tried his hand as an art curator managing various shows of his fellows throughout Germany.
Nowadays, the artist lives and works in Berlin, Germany. He has the representatives of his art in Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, London, New York City, and Madrid.
Gregor Hildebrandt is an accomplished artist who has discovered another capacity of cassette tape and vinyl, in addition to its initial function of a storage medium. Applying it as an artistic medium, he revealed its ability to furnish the artwork with the aspect invisible to the viewer’s eye, in particular, collective and personal memories in the form of the pop-cultural songs, movies, and parties prerecorded on the tapes.
Hildebrandt has been a recipient of the GASAG Art Prize and Vattenfall-Kunstpreis Energie.
Hildebrandt’s artworks are acquired by Berlinische Galerie, Centre Pompidou, Museum van Bommel van Dam, the Netherlands, and numerous private collections, including Martin Z. Marguelis Collection, Sammlung Südhausbau, Collection Robert and Renée Drake, Collection Steve and Chiara Rosenblum, and Burger Collection in Zurich and Hong Kong.

Quotations: "I really love that there's something inside the material that you can't hear. And when you see it, you only see black. You can have your own interpretation of the materials and it does something for your experience."
