Gregory received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science at University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. Then he earned Doctor of Philosoph at Oklahoma State University.
Gregory began his professional career as an 8th grade science teacher in Milwaukee Public Schools. After teaching, he joined the NASA Aerospace Education Services program and visited hundreds of schools in the midwest to acquaint students with NASA's programs and results. Initially, he was assigned to the NASA Glenn Research Center. Several years later, he transferred to NASA Headquarters to work on educational publications. After several years, he left NASA to open up a hands-on science center in Milwaukee.
Gregory returned to NASA to serve in education program support while earning his Doctor of Education. Upon completion of the degree, he transferred to the Teaching from Space Office at NASA Johnson Space Center. While there, he worked with the Astronaut Corp to develop a wide range of educational publications and more than 20 space-flight related classroom videos, including many live events broadcast from the Space Shuttle.
Originally, he came to the Center to support the Center's educational outreach grants with the National Space Biomedical Research Institute. Since that time, he has developed and authored curriculum guides and student books, trained teachers in professional development workshops, and taught students in the Center's summer outreach programs.
Independently, he has authored more than 100 children's and adult science trade books, and continues to serve as a consultant to space museums and space education programs across the country.
Gregory is married to Margaret Brunner, with whom he has three daughters.
