Grigory Georgievich Nikulin was born on the 5th of December, 1922 in the village Treschyovka, Zemlyansky uyezd, Voronezh province (now village Treschyovka, Voronezh region, Russian Federation).

In 1953 Nikulin graduated from the directing department of the Leningrad Theatrical Institute named after A.N. Ostrovsky (L.S. Vivien`s course).
In 1941-1948 Grigory Nikulin served in the ranks of the Red Army. In 1945-1948 he worked as a military investigator in Potsdam. In 1953-1957 Grigory was the production director of the Leningrad Bolshoi Theater of Drama named after M. Gorky.
Among his productions: "Strict Girl" by Samuel Aleshin, "Exposed Wonderworker" by Henry Fielding, "Crime" by Anthony Graham and others.
Since 1957 he was the director and screenwriter at the studio "Lenfilm". As the director he shot 12 feature films, among them: "The Bride" (1956), "Death of Pazukhin" (1957), "713th Requests a Landing" (1962), "Remember, Caspar!" (1964), "20th December"(1981),"Bread is a noun" (1988), "Do not make biscuits in a bad mood" (2002) and others.
Nukulin was the author of the scenarios for his four films. In 1960-1972 he worked as lecturer at the Leningrad State Institute of Culture named after N.K. Krupskaya. He repeatedly visited Voronezh and worked there in the archives.
