Vasily Ivanovich graduated from the Art School in Krasnoyarsk (1943). He graduated from the drama school at the Irkutsk Theater for Young Spectators (1948).

In 1954–1960, 1966–1970, he worked in the Voronezh Drama Theater, on the stage of which he played more than 40 roles, among them: Bondarenko ("Intervention" by Lev Isaevich Slavin), Usov ("The Traditional Collection" by Viktor Sergeevich Rozov), Lapot ("Shield and Sword" by Vadim Mikhailovich Kozhevnikov), Markov ("The Story of a Love" by Konstantin Mikhailovich Simonov), Tgmtet in a mono-performance based on the play of the same name by William Shakespeare, Kolesnikov ("The Invasion" of Leonid Maximovich Leonov) and others.
