Tsen, Hau-Yang was born on February 6, 1947 in Ping-Tung, Taiwan. Son of Jin-Fu and Ru-Yui (Lin) Tsen.


Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Chemistry, National National Chung-Hsing University University, Taichung, Taiwan, 1970. Master of Science in Agricultural Chemistry, National Taiwan University, Taipei, 1972. Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry, Kent State University, 1977.


Teaching and research assistant, Kent (Ohio) State University, 1973-1977; postdoctoral fellow, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, 1977-1978; associate professor, National National Chung-Hsing University U., Taichung, 1978-1981; professor department food science, National National Chung-Hsing University U., Taichung, since 1981.
