In The Most Intriguing Story Ever Told, F. Henry Firsching tells the story of how we got here, based on a variety of scientific disciplines. Answering age-old questions with realistic answers, Firsching begins with the formation of the universe and follows through time how the Earth developed, how life began and progressed, and discusses the development of modern man and our current civilization.

Henry F. Firsching was born on June 22, 1923, in Utica, New York, United States. He was the son of Norbert J. and Julia (Kaelin) Firsching.
Firsching had to drop out of high school to help feed his family during the Great Depression. After serving for three years in the U. S. Army during World War II, he received his bachelor's degree at Utica College in 1949. He then also received his Master of Science degree and a doctorate from Syracuse University in 1951 and 1955, respectively.
Firsching started his career, working as a research chemist for several companies before receiving his first teaching post as a professor of chemistry at the University of Georgia in Athens in the early 1960’s. He then accepted a position as a founding faculty at the start-up campus of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville where he taught for twenty-eight years until his retirement. During that period, he also worked as a weekly columnist and had a matching radio show called “Think About It” for twelve years.
During his career, Firsching also served for over three years in communications in the U. S. Army as a radar and radio operator during the World War II.
During his time as a professor, Firsching became widely known for his research on the rare earth series of elements that resulted in the publication of thirty scientific papers—including establishing their solubility data and inventing separation schemes for barium and strontium.
Firsching is also known as the author of two works - The God Hypothesis: A Scientist Looks at Religion of 1997 and The Most Intriguing Story Ever Told: A Summary of Scientific Studies About How We Got Here of 2002.
