Educated Holbrook College, Knoxville, 1894-1895. Graduate Mounted Service School (United States Army), 1910, Army School of the Line, 1916.

Career

National Guard, 1896. First lieutenant 3d Tennessee Infantry, May 1898-January 1899. 2d and First lieutenant, 31st United States 1899-1901.

Second in command Lieutenant cavalry, regular army, February 2, 1901. Promoted through grades to colonel, August 31, 1929. Assistant to quartermaster general, with rank of brigadier general, February 6, 1935-April 1, 1936.

Appointed-quartermaster general, with rank of major general, April 1, 1936. Retired April 1, 1940. Participated in Spanish-American War, Philippine Insurrection, Cuban Occupation and World War.
