This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. Hardt was born on November 15, 1660 in Melle, Germany.
Hardt studied oriental languages at the universities of Jena and Leipzig.
In 1690 Hardt was called to the chair of oriental languages at Helmstedt. He resigned his position in 1727, but lived at Helmstedt until his death on the 28th of February 1746. Among his numerous writings the following deserve mention: Magnum oecumenicum, Constantiense concilium (1697-1700), Hebraeae linguae fundamenta (1694), Syriacae linguae fundamenta (1694). Hardt left in manuscript a history of the Reformation which is preserved in the Helmstedt Juleum.
