Hideo Tsutsumi

Background

Hideo Tsutsumi was born in 1888 in Hokkaido, Japan.

Education

In 1913, Hideo Tsutsumi graduated from Waseda University.

Career

After graduating from the university, Hideo Tsutsumi remained as assistant professor to eventually become in the course of his 30 years’ association with his alma mater dean of the university’s faculty of science and engineering (1950). In 1935, he was conferred a doctorate.

Since the end of World War II Hideo Tsutsumi was interested in harnessing atomic energy for peaceful purposes. Among his works are "What Atomic Energy Produces" and "An Exercise on Questions Regarding Electrical Calculations".

Achievements

• Hideo Tsutsumi made many important contributions to the study of electrophysics. One of his papers titled "Study of Static Electricity on Polarized Light" was published in the official journal of the Electric Society (1921).
