Career
Her seeking the help of Yamana Sōzen in support of her son"s claim to the shogunate, and in opposition to the claim of Yoshimasa"s younger brother, Ashikaga Yoshimi, is seen as one of the causes of the Ōnin War. She has been the subject of novels by Ryōtarō Shiba and Michiko Nagai. Hino Tomiko was a central character in the Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai Taiga drama Hana no Ran.
