Honma Shigeo was born in Japan.
Professor of Tokyo Educational University. After serving at Physical Education Research Institute of Education Ministry became professor of Tokyo Physical Training College (1941) and there after was appointed to present, post (1951). Participated in 10th Olympics as competitor as well as captain of Japanese Gymnastic Team and in 11th Olympics as coach. As veteran coach leads the entire field of gymnastics in our country.
