Preparatory education, Flexner School, Louisville, Kentucky. Student Bryn Mawr, 1903-1904. Bachelor of Arts, University of Michigan, 1907, Master of Arts, 1910.
In 1910. She worked for the Louisville Herald. They moved to Philadelphia. He was a contributor to the Saturday Evening Post.
She taught at Bryn Mawr, from 1926 to 1940, and at Sarah Lawrence College from 1942 to 1950.
In 1961, she returned to Louisville. Marguerite Yourcenar translated her poetry into French.
Her papers are held at the University of Louisville.
