Hozumi Tanaka was born in 1876 in Japan.
He graduated from Waseda University (1896).
He graduated from Waseda University (1896) to join the staff of the Yomiuri Shimbun (newspaper). He left (1901) on a study tour of Europe and America and upon his return became chief editor of the Mainichi Shimbun, and concurrently dean of its commercial section. He then was appointed president of Waseda University (1931). Among his works is "Principle of Economy."
