Ichitaro Kokubun attended Yamagata Normal School.
After graduating from Yamagata Normal School Ichitaro Kokubun worked first as a teacher at an elementary school and then as a journalist. He was arrested and imprisoned on suspicion of being a communist (1938).
Among his many works are "The Judged Schoolroom" and "The New Composition Schoolroom."
Ichitaro Kokubun was a member of New Japan Literature Society and of Juvenile Writers' Club.
