Career
Governor of Kyushu, served Tadamori and Kiyomori Taira. He once prevented Tadamori from being humiliated by courtiers in the Court. When he accompanied Kiyomori to Kumano (1159), he got information that Nobuyori Fujiwara, a courtier, was planning an uprising against the Tairas and persuaded Kiyomori to return to Kyoto to fight Nobuyori.
When Yoshihira Minamoto launched an attack on Rokuhara in Kyoto, Iesada and Sadayoshi, his son, spearheaded the Taira forces against Yoshihira. He then subdued the uprising of Michiyoshi Hyuga in Hizen Province (Saga Prefecture) on behalf of Kiyomori.
