He graduated from the Civil Engineering Faculty of the Saratov Technical School of Civil Engineering (1934).
Igor Anatolyevich Ivanov was a senior architect of Institute "Military Project" of the Voronezh Military District (1943-1947). He participated in the restoration of many buildings in Voronezh, including residential buildings on Revolution Avenue. Designed office buildings for various military installations in the country.
After 1947, he worked in Oryol, where he completed projects of a number of administrative buildings, including the regional library named after N.K. Krupskaya (1951), the House of Books (1953, Moskovskaya Street), the music school (1955) and other objects.
Together with E.E. Zvezdin published the book "Local Construction Materials" (Oryol, 1962). The author of the collection of poems: "Revival" (Oryol, 1956), "My Land" (Oryol, 1962), "Sparks" (Tula, 1968).
