In 1947-1952, Viktor Afanasyevich danced in the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Southern Group of Forces (the city of Constanta, Romania), as well as in the Dance Ensemble of the Ukrainian SSR in 1952-1953, in Kiev. He also worked as a dancer in the Ensemble of the Voronezh Military District in 1953–1960.
Viktor Afanasyevich held the position of the Head of the National Folk Dance Ensemble of the District House of Officers. He was a ballet master of the Western Group of Forces Ensemble (1960-1965, Dresden, German Democratic Republic), the Voronezh Garrison Ensemble (1965-1972, 1976-1989), Russian Folk Choir (1972-1974, Sakhalin Island), Folk Ensemble of the Dance "Russians" (1989 -1991, Voronezh), and Dance Ensemble "Topotukha" (1991-2001, Voronezh).
