Igor Vasilievich Aladyin was born in 1796 presumably in Kursk, Russian Federation, in a noble family.
Igor Vasilievich began his service as a non commissioned officer of the Luben Hussar Regiment (October 1812), in 1816 he retired from the Narva Dragoon Regiment with the rank of lieutenant. In 1817-1818, the superintendent of Shchigrovsky, then the Timsk grocery stores; in 1819-1820 he served in the Kursk state chamber.
From July 1820 - in Saint Petersburg (in 1823-1830 an official of special assignments at the state chamber, from 1833 - in the Department of Railways; in 1844 Igor Vasilievich was assigned to the Ministry of State Property, in 1846 he was promoted to collegiate counsellor; in 1853 he was dismissed from service).
Igor Vasilievich made his debut as a poet in 1821 and was published in journals such as "Blagonamerenny" ("Well-intentioned") (poems), "Novosty Leteratury" ("Literature News") and "Severnaya Ptchela" ("The Northern Bee"). His play "Kum Ivan. Russian Story of 1550" was a success in 1841 at the Alexandrinsky Theater.
In 1825-1833 he published the "Nevsky Almanac" (9 books), the most durable among similar publications of that time. Having a reputation among the literary celebrities as an annoying and unscrupulous "almanac writer", nevertheless Igor Vasilievich achieved participation in the "Nevsky Almanac" of A.S. Pushkin, E.A. Baratynsky, P.A. Vyazemsky, F.N. Glinka, N.A. Polevoy, N.M. Yazykov and others, and sometimes printed their works without the knowledge of the authors. However, the almanac often published mediocre works (including A.D. Illichevsky, V.I. Karlhof, V.N. Olin, B.M. Fedorov, etc.).
In 1831 Igor Vasilievich was publishing the journal "Sankt-Peterburgsky Vestnik" ("Saint Petersburg Bulletin"). In the 40s made an unsuccessful attempt to revive the Nevsky Almanac, releasing it in favor of the St. Petersburg House of Charity, about which he wrote a number of brochures.
After 1833, Igor Vasilievich did not write works of art. His translation (from the German language) of the work of V. Bergman "The History of Peter the Great" (1833-1834; 2nd edition, 1840-1841) was a success.
