He was a retainer of the Kanazawa Clan. Was appointed a judge (1885). After serving at the Kobe and Matsue District Courts, he entered the bar. Was elected a member of the House of Representatives (1908) and became a member of the Kokuminto Party. Was noted for his clear-cut and concise way of defense. His clients included a good number of foreigners.
