Ivan received an incomplete secondary education.
Ivan received an incomplete secondary education, he worked as a trainee at the Krasnozvezdin refinery plant in Sumy.
In October 1939, Eremenko was recruited to serve in the Red Army. From the first day of the Great Patriotic War - on its fronts. Took part in the battles on the North-Western, Western, 3rd Belarusian fronts. In battles, three times was wounded and two times bruised.
In August 1944, Sergeant Ivan Eremenko fought in the 703rd anti-tank artillery regiment of the 16th Guards separate anti-tank artillery brigade of the 5th Army of the 3rd Belarusian Front. Distinguished himself during the liberation of the Lithuanian SSR.
On August 4, 1944, during the repulse of a German counterattack near the village of Zhvirgdaičiai in the Šakiai district, Eremenko personally blew out two enemy tanks. When the platoon commander died, Eremenko replaced him and successfully led the defense. Eremenko destroyed a company of enemy soldiers and officers. On August 5, the artillerymen of Eremenko blew out a tank and destroyed about two detachments of enemy soldiers and officers.
In May 1946, Eremenko was demobilized. He lived in Grodno, worked as the director of the Grodno industrial complex, the chairman of the city Construction Department, the senior personnel inspector at one of Grodno's factories.
He died on June 19, 1996, was buried in Grodno.
He was a member of the CPSU.
