Dyakov Joseph Ivanovich was the party organizer of the rifle battalion, the 494th Infantry Regiment of the 174th Infantry Division, the 31st Army, the 3rd Belarusian Front; Senior Lieutenant; Hero of the Soviet Union.

Background

Joseph was born on 22 March (4 April ) in 1903 in the city of Gomel (Belarus) in the family of the worker. The Belarusian.

In 1922 Joseph studied at Infantry School of the Council of People's Commissars of Belarus.

Since 1939 he studied at Higher Agricultural School.

Career

Since 1939, after graduating from the Higher Agricultural School, Joseph worked in the Berezovsky district, the Regional Committee of the Brest Region.

In January 1942 Joseph was recruited in the Red Army and sent to the front.

In 1943, he graduated from the political courses of the Western Front.

Fought on the Western, Central, 3rd Belarusian, 1st Ukrainian fronts.

Party organizer of the battalion of the 494th Infantry Regiment (174th Infantry Division, 31st Army, 3rd Belarusian Front), Senior Lieutenant Iosif Dyakov, distinguished himself in the liberation of Belarus.

23 June 1944, during the breakthrough of the enemy's defense and in the battle for the important tactical positions in the Dubrovno (district of the Vitebsk region) Dyakov by personal example took the fighters into the attack, burst into the trench of the enemy, and then in hand-to-hand combat killed about a dozen enemies and blew up a machine gun.

Participating in the Bialystok Offensive Operation (together with the troops of the 2nd Belarusian Front carrying out the Vilnius offensive operation), on July 15, 1944, in the battles for Grodno, Senior Lieutenant Dyakov replaced the wounded commander of the rifle company and led the fighters to break through the enemy defense, first broke into the city.

He died on January 11, 1984. He was buried in Gomel.

Achievements
