Ivam was born on 28 July in 1919 in the village of Rog, now Petrykivsky district of the Gomel region of Belarus in a peasant family.

Ivan received a secondary education. He studied at Pedagogical rabfak.
In 1945 he studied at Tomsk Artillery School in Tomsk, Russian Federation. He became an Officer.
Since 1956 Ivan studied at Marshal Leonid Govorov Air Defense and Radio Engineering Academy in Moscow, Russian Federation.
In the Red Army since 1939. On the fronts of the Great Patriotic War from August 1941. He fought in the Southern, Western, Bryansk and Central Fronts. Participant of the Battle of Kursk, forcing the Desna, Dnieper, Pripyat.
The commander of the fire platoon of the 34th Guards Artillery Regiment (the 6th Guards Rifle Division, the 13th Army, the Central Front) of Guard Sergeant Sergeant Ivan Sambuk, participating in the battles on the Oryol-Kursk direction in July 1943, with his platoon from open positions three days repulsed the attacks of German tanks and infantry.
