From 1949 to 1955 Ivan was an art editor in the publishing house Tvar in Bratislava, Slovakia, and a clerk in the CornTrust in Bratislava, from 1945 to 1947. Since 1955 Kozacek has been a technical and graphic editor in the Institute of Health Education in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Kozacek has belonged to the photographic group Pictus since 1964. He became a member of the Union of Slovakian Photographers in 1968, serving as its secretary from 1968 to 1978 and its president since 1978.
