Ivan Ivanovich Georgi was an academician of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1783).
Career
Ivan Ivanovich Georgi was the author of the first generalizing about the people of Russia, containing about 100 drawings, partially painted. In 1770, following in Tsaritsyn, he drove through Tambov and Novokhopersky district, explored and described the plant world.
In 1770-1774 he took an active part in the Academic expeditions of 1768-1774. Explored the Urals, Altai, Siberia, Lake Baikal.
Compositions: Description all inhabiting Russian people, as well as their everyday rituals, faiths, wont, dwellings, clothes and other memoria (St. Petersburg, 1776-1777, parts 1-3).
