After the graduation from Krasny Luki Secondary School Ivan Mazur entered the Faculty of Transport Construction of Lugansk Railway Technical School. He graduated from it with honors. After the army service, Ivan was sent to study at the Kiev Civil Engineering Institute, Mazur graduated in 1970 with honors with a degree in industrial and civil engineering. He graduated from the Academy of National Economy under the Council of Ministers of the USSR in 1983, and the Academy of Economics (FRG) in 1988.
From 1970 to 1980 Ivan Mazur was the chief engineer and manager of the "Megiongazstroy" trust of Glavtyumenneftegazstroy in Nizhnevartovsk, Tyumen Oblast. In 1980 he became the head of the All-Union Industrial Association "Soyuztransprogress”, in 1981 he was included in the Board of the Ministry of Construction of Oil and Gas Enterprises of the USSR and approved as the head of the Glavtruboprovodstroy, the largest organization in the European part of the former USSR, specialized in the construction of oil and gas pipelines.
From 1985 to 1991 Ivan Mazur was Deputy Minister of Construction of the Ministry of Oil and Gas Construction of the USSR. In this position he oversaw the issues of oil and gas construction and foreign economic activity. With the beginning of structural transformations of the economy of the country and the industry, he becomes vice-president of the group of companies "Neftegazstroy", and then – "RAO Rosneftegazstroy" JSC (1991-1996). In 1996 he was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of "AO Rosneftegazstroy" JSC, from 1998 to the present Ivan Mazur is the president of "RAO Rosneftegazstroy" JSC.
He is a full member of the International Ecological Academy (1993), International Academy of Ecology and Civil Defense, and Committee “C” of the International Gas Union.
Ivan Ivanovich is married and has two sons.
