Ivan Trofimovich Alexandrovsky was a Russian teacher and critic. He one of the first people attempted to consider the significance of Russian literature in the context of "public education" – the historical and cultural development of Russia. Many of his students were published in the V.G. Anastasevich’s "Uley" ("Hive"), which shows his great faculty of teaching.
Education
Ivan Trofimovich studied at the Ryazan Theological Seminary, from which in 1803 he was admitted to the Saint Petersburg Pedagogical Institute (now The Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia) (graduated in 1807).
Career
Still being a student, Ivan Trofimovich was published in journals and collections published by the director of the institute I.I. Martynov. Since 1807, for 25 years, Ivan Trofimovich taught at the Volyn Gymnasium in the city of Kremenets, a large cultural center in Volyn, from which he was dismissed in 1833, having the rank of court counselor (since 1824). After 1832 he taught in Polish provincial gymnasiums, including Kielce, which was abolished for political reasons (1840).
