In 1972, Jack began working as an Assistant Vice President at M/A-COM (present-day Hughes Network Systems), a post he held till 1982. In 1983, he founded and became Vice President of Dama Telecommunications Corporation. In 1985, Jack left the company.
In 1986, Hangen was appointed General Manager at Data General Telecommunications, remaining in the position till 1990, when he founded and became Vice President of Telogy Networks. In 1999, Jack left the company, when it was acquired by Texas Instruments. The same year, in 1999, Jack was appointed Vice President at Lockheed Martin Corporation, Comsat Labs Division, remaining there until 2001.
Since 2005, Hangen has been holding a post of Executive Principal at Entec Ventures LLC. Since August 2007, he has been a Member of the Advisory Board at CertusNet Inc. In January 2010, Jack was appointed a Member of the Advisory Board at SmartSenseCom Inc., a post he continues to hold these days. Also, in January 2010, Jack became Founding Member at Blu Venture Investors, a post he currently continues to hold.
Since March 2012, Hangen has been a Member of the Board of Directors at VanGogh Imaging in McLean, Virginia. The company provides embedded software for 3D capture, processing, visualization and measurement. Also, since January 2014, Jack has been a Member of the Board of Directors at Pixspan in Rockville, Maryland.
