Jailan Abbas

Background

Jaylan Abbas was born in Cairo, Egypt, on March 11, 1952.

Education

Abbas was educated at the University of Helwan with a Bachelor of Arts degree, graduating in 1972. She continued her studies and became Master of Arts in 1988. As a result, she became a doctor of philosophy, graduating in 1996. She graduated from Cairo University, receiving a diploma of higher education (archaeological specialty).

Career

Jailan Abbas started writing compositions and essays in her childhood in both languages, English and Arabic. Firstly she was doing it for keeping herself. She never even thought to become an author until she was asked by the Information Department in Egypt to write a simple book in a series to introduce laymen to Islamic arts.

She worked as a professor of guiding methodology at Helwan University at Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management between 1979-1993. As a teacher of Egyptian culture she works in Cairo, Egypt at Cairo American College from 1981, she is active in community volunteer activities. Also she is a guest lecturer on Egyptian history and culture in many cultural and educational institutions.
