James Annesley is a British critic of the United States literature and educator, who has written several books on what is called "blank fiction", a contemporary style of fiction, abjuring realism in favor of a detailed surface, replete with consumer products, that stand in for traditional elements of the novel, such as plot and characterization.
Education
In 1990, James received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Edinburgh. Later, in 1996, he attained a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Sussex.
Career
Besides the work as a literature critic and writer, James also taught American literature at Brunei University in England. Currently, he holds a post of a senior lecturer in American Literature at Newcastle University.
