James William Brodman

Background

James William Brodman was born on December 9, 1945, in Rochester, New York. He is a son of Adolph Adam Brodman and Margaret Ann Brodman, maiden name Laukaitis. He graduated from McQuaid Jesuit High School and earned a B.A., summa cum laude, from Canisius College and the M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. He married Marian Margaret Masiuk. They have a son, James Christopher Brodman, and a daughter, Margaret Marian Brodman. His teaching career spanned four decades at the University of Central Arkansas.

Education

In 1963-1967, James Brodman studied at Canisius College and received a Bachelor of Arts. In 1967-1974, he attended the University of Virginia and received a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy.

Career

James Brodman worked at the University of Central Arkansas, Conway, as an assistant professor (1972-1977), associate professor (1977-1984), professor of history (1984-2012). He is a director of the Library of Iberian Resources Online. He is one of the founders of the Honors College. The Honors College is credited with bringing lots of very capable students to the University of Central Arkansas.

Achievements

• In 2012, James Broadman became a Professor Emeritus of the University of Central Arkansas. His works were published in eight countries on three continents.
