He studied at the Moscow school № 167. In 1977, after graduating from school with a gold medal, immediately and easily entered the Medical faculty of the 1st Moscow Medical Institute named after I.M. Sechenov. He graduated with the red diploma of a doctor in 1983. In 1984, Jan Moisuk entered the Surgical Internship in the same institute.
Since 1986, after completing the internship, Jan Moysyuk worked as a surgeon, then as a junior researcher. In 1987, under the guidance of P.Y. Philiptseva he presented his thesis for the degree of candidate of medical sciences on the topic "Bioprostheses from the human umbilical vein as arterio-venous fistulas for hemodialysis."
In April 1987, Ian Gennadievich was offered a transfer to the Research and Development Establishment of V.I. Shumakov. The first two years he worked as a senior research fellow in the laboratory of conservation and typing of organs. Ian Gennadievich was entrusted with the task of researching in a new direction - multi-organ donation.
In 1989 he entered the Internship in the USA as part of the Ministry of Health of the USSR exchange program for the young specialists. Upon his return home Ya.G. Moisuk was unexpectedly assigned by Academy Fellow V.I. Shumakov to head the department of kidney transplantation. The appointment came into force in 1990. In February 1990, V.I. Shumakov and Ya.G. Moisuk performed the first successful liver transplantation in the USSR. In 1991, Ya.G Moisuk was awarded with a silver medal by the Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the USSR for the introduction of the method of orthotopic liver transplantation into clinical practice. In 1992, he presented his thesis “Multi-organ donation in clinical transplantation”, which he based on his previous practices, for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences. Since 1999, his initiative has facilitated active development of kidney transplantation from a living related donor. In 2005, he successfully conducted 4 operations, in 2006 - 11, and in the first five months of 2007 - already 10.
He is a surgeon of the higher medical category. In January 2000, he was confirmed in the academic title of "professor" in the specialty "transplantology and artificial organs." With his direct assistance, the preparation, organization and clinical implementation of multi-organ donation and liver transplantation programs were carried out. Jan Gennadievich personally performed more than 1000 kidney transplantation operations and more than 30 liver transplantations.
Moreover, he actively assisted the performance of the first kidney transplant operations and established in Khabarovsk, Ulyanovsk, Yakutsk, Irkutsk, Orenburg, Belgorod, Voronezh and other Russian cities first kidney transplantation centers. In 2002 he was awarded the title of "Honored Doctor of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)".
In his spare time, Ian Gennadievich likes picking mushrooms and reading. Lives and works in Moscow.
