Jatindra Nath Bhar received his school education from the Kanailal Vidyamandir of Chandannaga. He graduated from Calcutta University in 1939.
From 1938 till 1939 Jatindra Nath Bhar worked as an assistant lecturer. Since 1939 he was a professor of physics. Since 1955 he worked as a head of radio physics and electronics department and a dean of technology faculty at Calcutta University. He was a talented physicist who wrote more than 20 articles and research papers.
Jatindra Nath Bhar married in 1949 and had 2 children.
